February 9th, 2009 - Today we had a day of rest but we used it to do some practice of walking uneven ground of the nearby glacier. I succeeded to take the memory card from Fernando and here are the photos from Vallecitos from where we saw Aconqagua for the first time.
Let me start first with the photos from Vallecitos where we went for the EAP and where we climbed up to 5400 msl and in the distance saw Aconqagua for the first time.
That was mainly that , and this is Fernando Colobini who doesn't part from me and Daca from the time we started our climb to Aconqagua. Fernando is a professional guide and also vice champion of Argentina in mountainbike.
Today it looked like this . At about 11.00 we set off for nearby glacier where we practised walking along the uneven ground of the glacier slope. Daca was one the better walker as others were not quite experienced in this kind of walking. Daca had practised it in Serbia , Bulgaria, Montenegro and on Elbrus.
For tomorrow we planned to go and spend the night in the height camp Canada. The day after tomorrow we are going to spend the night on C2 Nido de Condores. The third day we are going to C3 Berlin and spend the night there or to stay on Nido de Condores if we don't acclimatize well enough or if the weather is not quite good. On the fourth day we are probably going to try the climb to Aconqagua if everything is all right or we may stay overnight in the camp Berlin , and try the climb on the fifth day.
Until then we won't be able to send either photos or reports.
