Friday, August 1st, 2008: at 14.00 by locaal time , Slobodan Stokic reported that they successfully performed the third aclimatisation the aim of which was to spend a night in atent at 3200msl, and that they are in Terskol and have to undertake some 'chores'.
To the third aclimatisation our team set off after 12.30 by local time . They got to the height of 3040msl by Cheget wire-drawing mill, then went on on foot to find the best place for making the camp. It was at the height of 3180msl. On other spots there were a lot of stones , and clear spaces were only on mountain ridges and Slobodan did not want to risk as strong wind was predicted.
The spot planned for the camp had to be first levelled so they could somehow spend the night. Fortunately the stones fall in pieces in shape of plate as a sequence of erosion so the spot seemed as if paved and the floor was literarily stone paved like the ones in old Serbian houses.
After levelling the ground Slobodan made the tent with Danijela's help.
After this and being already at height of 3180msl Slobodan decided that they would go to another aclimatisation on the top Cheget at 3400msl . So it happened but they were followed by strong wind and rain spells.
They got to the top for about 1 and half hour took photos quickly came back. This time the team appologize to the donor Masel Bus Advertising because they were not in the photos. The things happened in this way: At packing the rucksacks the most neccessary things for the stay and\or survival on a mountain are always put first. Promoting flags were in Danijela's climbing rucksack from Belgrade and promoting material of Masel Bus Advertising was hooked at Stokic's rusksack and at arrival both the rucksack and material were put away . As the weather was rainy they always started in a hurry in order to get to the planned destination in time and to do as many aclimatisations as possible because Danijela's health and aclimatisations were the first priority and her rucksack carried . As Masel Bus Advertising was set aside in some way before and because their help in our media promotion is enormous the whole day yesterday was devoted to them.
After the return from the top the team went to night rest. The clouds predicted disturbing night.
It was calm untill 3.00 in the morning and then a heavy rain started untill 7.00 am. At 4.00 a strong thunder began and lasted untill 6.00 so it was not quite easy for the team to listen to unusal and strong sounds from the sky. They prayed that thunder would not strike in the vicinity of their camp. Danijela was especially afraid as it was her first stay at this height in the weather like this. At 7.00 everything calmed down and the time for the first morning coffee came. :))
After coffee the team dismantled the camp and set off back to Terskol. This was the last glance at the campsite.
By the way Elbrus itself did not show still, but they hope they would see it soon. The observatory could hardly be seen by which they had passed during yesterday's aclimatisation.
The strongest impression from this aclimatisation for Slobodan was this witty label left by some German club :))
